SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - 13 August 2019 CompliSpace is honoured to be recognised as one of Australia and New Zealand’s Most Innovative Companies. The prestigious annual list, published by The Australian Financial Review and BOSS Magazine, is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading innovation consultancy, Inventium, in conjunction with a panel of industry expert judges.  In 2019 for the first time, organisations were ranked directly against their peers across 10 industry lists. All lists can be viewed here.

CompliSpace ranked #5 on the Professional Services Firms list, from over 800 nominated organisations across Australia and New Zealand. The assessment measured a top innovation implemented in the past 12 months. Specifically, the judges looked at how valuable the problem is that the innovation is solving, the quality and uniqueness of the solution, and the innovation’s level of impact. Inventium also assessed internal elements such as innovation culture, strategy, resources and process, that demonstrate a sustainable and repeatable approach to innovation.

CompliSpace was thrilled to be recognised for our innovative P-LAR framework that delivers policy to culture.  Policy to culture is about bringing policies to life within an organisation - from words on a page to understanding, action and ownership.  We know that simply providing policies does not make an organisation compliant. People do. We help our clients create a compliance culture that their staff embrace.

Each element of the P-LAR framework helps our clients’ journey from policy to culture.

(P) Policy: know what’s required. We provide key policies tailored to an organisation’s circumstances that cover the who, how, when, what and why of each policy.

(L) Learning: understand what’s required. We provide associated learning and development to help staff understand the policies.

(A) Assurance: do what’s required. We provide an assurance workflow management tool and content to ensure that key elements of an organisation’s policies ‘come to life’.

(R) Reporting: prove (and improve) compliance. The final part of the process is to provide high-quality reporting, for the board, executive and at an operational level. Reporting enables enhanced decision-making and sets the platform for continuous improvement within a school.

“We created the P-LAR framework to help our non-government school clients manage outcomes from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.  When working with many school clients, we found that there were gaps in staff understanding of obligations, inconsistency in executing the associated actions required and a lack of visibility for school leadership on these gaps. These are major risks for schools and even bigger risks for students. We created a framework against which we could map our compliance programs to identify gaps in knowledge, understanding, actions and reports.  The P-LAR framework has worked so well for our school clients that we are rolling out the framework to other industries as well, including Aged Care, Financial Services and Not-for-profit,” said James Field, CEO of CompliSpace.

“Innovation is one of our core values at CompliSpace, so we are thrilled to have our P-LAR framework and ‘policy to culture’ philosophy recognised for innovation in the world of governance, risk and compliance,” said David Griffiths, Managing Director of CompliSpace.
